Q&A With Beyond Fifteen Co-Founder, Lauren Ellermeyer

  • Who inspires you?

I’m inspired by many people, my dad especially. He’s super positive, motivated and cool. He doesn’t sweat the small stuff. He runs a monthly executive roundtable, serves his clients well and he says he’ll never retire. Among many things, I’ve learned how important it is to keep mentally and physically active from my dad.

  • What was your first job?

My first job was a receptionist in a hair salon when I was 15. I identified the salon I wanted to work at and they didn’t have any jobs, but week after week I asked my mom to drive me to the salon and I would ask if they had any openings. I was finally hired (my mom had to drive me to work) and I ended up working there for four years until I graduated high school and moved away.

  • Name two things you consider yourself to be really good at.

In the professional sense, I’m great at networking to create mutually beneficial relationships for others and I’m good at developing business for the agency.

  • What show are you watching on Netflix right now?

I’m not really a TV person, but I really enjoy documentaries. I recently watched El Chapo and would definitely recommend it.

  • Where is your favorite place to travel?

I’ve never been to a country I haven’t liked – Turkey, Colombia, India, Croatia, Peru – they are all my favorites.

  • What are three things on your bucket list?

My bucket list is long and continues to grow. I’d like Leslie and I to start investing in and mentoring other businesses. I’d like to have a family; backpack and drink wine through Patagonia; see the Northern Lights; start a nonprofit for animals; hike all of our national parks; step up my game and run a marathon. The list is endless.

  • What are you most proud of when it comes to Beyond Fifteen?

A former client CEO once noted that he believed it was a cover story we secured for him that sparked interest and subsequently got his company acquired. That was pretty cool. Leslie and I started this business out of her home, nine years ago. It was just the two of us on her sofa. Today we have a wonderful team and a full roster of amazing clients and I could not be more grateful.

  • What do you love most about Beyond Fifteen?

I love our team. They are so intelligent, funny and they work smart for our clients. I love watching this group grow. Getting to work with Leslie is a pretty sweet deal too – she’s pretty cool.
