Q&A with Brooke Martin

Who inspires you?

My mother and grandmother have been my biggest inspirations throughout life. Both are extremely hard working, supportive, loving, generous to a fault (the list goes on and on) and have been exceptional examples of what a good human should be.

My mom was a first-grade teacher for 38 years and raised four kids with tons of sports and extracurriculars – I’m still not sure how it was all possible; and even then, she still found a way to have a huge impact in our lives and the lives of every student, parent and faculty member she touched. She has also played the piano for our church since before she hit double digits in age; she is insanely talented and so dedicated. My nana is such a strong matriarch. She has 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and finds a way to make every one of us sure that we are her favorite. Beyond this, they are two of the most witty and hilarious humans I know. I’m forever grateful to have come from them.  They are two of my best friends and inspire me each and every day.

What was your first job?

My first job was working at A Formal Affair—a tuxedo shop in my hometown. I would run the day-to-day operations, take measurements and help guys level up their tux games. During that time, I also worked at a pizza place, Pizza Factory, where all of my siblings have had jobs (my little brother is currently a manager there).

Name two things you consider yourself to be really good at.

  • I believe I am a good writer and am always trying to further my skills and find new ways to improve and grow.
  • Outside of work, I think I’m pretty good at showing up for the people in my life and keeping them laughing.

What show are you watching on Netflix right now?

I, like just about every other person on Netflix, recently finished You season 3. It’s kind of creepy but good and very bingeworthy.

Where is your favorite place to travel?

I love to travel anywhere and everywhere with friends or family! In terms of locations, I really enjoy being in the mountains.

What are three things on your bucket list?

  • Learn to play the piano.
  • Wine and dine my way through Europe.
  • Ride in a hot air balloon.

What recent successes are you most proud of and why?

I’ve had quite a bit of personal development over the last year and a half that I’m very proud of. I have always been more of an introverted extrovert which today would surprise many as I’ve really worked on stepping out of my comfort zone.

Professionally, I’m very proud to have been chosen to join the Beyond Fifteen team. I’m not one to adapt so easily so I was a bit nervous to make the jump to a new job, but I can’t say enough about how enriching it has been already and how happy I am that I made this decision.

What do you love most about Beyond Fifteen?

I’ve been on the team for about six months now and truly love every part of Beyond Fifteen and the group of people that make it up! Everyone is collaborative, supportive and very good at what they do. I enjoy learning from the team and working together to deliver great results for our clients.
