Q&A with Samantha Engel

Who inspires you?

I am very lucky to have so many people in my life that inspire me and help me to grow into new versions of myself daily. Though my family will always be my biggest inspiration, I truly have to say my best friend is right up there with them! She has taught me to be unapologetically myself, embrace authenticity and work to achieve my most ambitious goals. She’s truly a rockstar!

What was your first job?

My first job was in the service industry at the “coolest” restaurant to work at during high school. It was a Hawaiian fusion restaurant that was the place to be on taco Tuesday. Having my first job at a young age while managing school and national level soccer taught me many important life lessons that I carry with me to this day.

Name two things you consider yourself to be really good at.

  1. I am a very good listener. My closest friends have each experienced some form of hardship in their lives and a compliment I often receive from them is how exceptional my ability and willingness to understand and listen to them is. In a marketing/communications career, this has translated to a talent for really hearing my teammates and clients to dive deep into their visions and truly understand their goals.
  2. Working well under pressure and developing effective strategies to problem solve. Playing a competitive sport through high school and being a working student in college really helped me to develop these skillsets!

What show are you watching on Netflix right now?

I am always watching New Girl! But I did just start Clickbait, it’s really interesting and shines a light on the precautions that need to be taken when it comes to the internet, especially for kids. A scary thought!

Where is your favorite place to travel?

This one makes me sad! I was supposed to travel across Europe last year, but due to COVID I wasn’t able to. So instead of saying Italy, I’ll have to go with Big Sur. Road-tripping up the coast will always hold a special place in my heart.

What are three things on your bucket list?

  1. Taking the trip to Europe I wasn’t able to.
  2. Going to Bali.
  3. Converting a van to take on road trips.
