Today’s marketing is all about multimedia! To reach your target audience, you’ll want a collection of visual assets that connect in an authentic way. Thanks to digital marketing, there are many opportunities for brands to speak to their audience through different mediums. It’s no longer only print, outdoor advertisements and TV that rely heavily on visual content, but content marketers can benefit from social media images, video, short-form video, GIFs and memes as well.

Images – Simply adding an image to your social media posts or advertisements can really give your digital communications a boost! People process visual data about 60,000 times faster than text alone, so if you’re not incorporating visuals into your marketing mix you’re not getting your whole message across.

Video Video is an extremely popular medium right now. You only have to look at statistics about YouTube to see how important a video presence is for brands. YouTube has 1.7 billion monthly visitors, and in the U.S., 62 percent of users access their accounts daily with 98 percent accessing it monthly. Not only that, but it’s the world’s second most-visited website behind Google. If your brand isn’t tapping video, it’s time to start now.

Short-form video – We’ve given short-form video its own category because it is strategically unique and can reach a different target audience than long-form video. It is vital that short-form video like Instagram Reels and TikToks are included in your marketing mix if you’re trying to reach Gen Z. In the U.S., 37.3 million Gen Zers accessed their TikTok accounts at least once a month, compared to 33.3 million for Instagram.

GIFGIFs are a great way to catch the eye of your target audience. They’re quick, highly visual and their small file sizes make them perfect to include in a variety of communications including on social media, email blasts and in blogs. They can even be good for your SEO if you correctly implement proper metadata.

Memes – People want to feel a connection with brands, and memes are an easy way to relate to your target audience. Instagram estimates that approximately one million memes are shared on their platform every day. Memes are affordable, can boost engagement and allow brands to join in whatever conversation is trending.

Mix it up
When reviewing your digital marketing strategy, stop and take a look at the visual assets your brand is using. Is there a good variety of impactful visual assets or are you leaning hard on one or two options?
